Tay Savage shared his experiences of re-entering society after serving eight years in prison. Upon his release in 2022, he moved to another state, reuniting with family before landing a construction job—his first 9-to-5 role. Though initially finding the work rewarding, offering a structured path and a chance to care for his family, he eventually left due to feeling inexperienced compared to seasoned coworkers. Tay reflects on this decision with some regret but acknowledges it led him back to music. Tay's transition into rapping was inspired, in part, by fellow rapper King Von, whom Tay met during incarceration. Despite initially criticizing Von’s early efforts, he recognized Von's rapid growth in the music industry.
