Fresh off of her historic heavyweight win last weekend, Claressa Shields walked out of her match against Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse alongside of rapper Papoose. The Brooklyn rapper also walked Claressa out at the match, which many took as them publicly confirming their relationship.
Now, Claressa is opening up about Papoose, telling fans that she loves having his support. During a recent Instagram Live session, Claressa stated, "I love him, I love having his support. His support is very different from what I’ve had in the past. How he speaks to me is very different."
Claressa went on to say, "Pap is like my best friend. I talk to him about everything. We do have a great connection and he understands me."
From there, Claressa explained that she wanted to keep their relationship private for a while so that they could enjoy it without all of the scrutiny from the public. This comes after Claressa's relationship with Papoose was thrust in the public during her back-and-forth with Pap's estranged wife, Remy Ma.
Claressa made a statement that many may take as a dig at Remy Ma, as she explained that she thinks she and Papoose "upgraded" when they started dating.
