Serena Williams had jaws dropping as she made a cameo during Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl performance on Sunday (February 9). The significance of Serena crip walking during Kendrick's performance of "Not Like Us" was not lost on fans, who quickly pointed out the tennis legend's connection to Drake.
During the highly anticipated performance, the camera panned to Serena, who was Crip Walking while Kendrick sent shots at Drake. Fans quickly pointed out that Drake and Serena were romantically linked for years, making her appearance at Kendrick's show all the more shocking and layered.
In 2022, Drake referenced Williams again in the track "Middle of the Ocean," rapping: "Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie/He claim we don't got a problem but/No, boo, it is like you coming for sushi."
Serena's husband, Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian, responded to the "groupie" line on Instagram, writing, "The reason I stay winning is because I'm relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do—including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter."
Last year, Serena also addressed Kendrick and Drake's beef at the ESPY awards, as she told the crowd, "If I’ve learned anything this year, it’s that none of us, not a single one of us, not even me, should ever pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar. He will make your hometown not like you. The next time Drake sits courtside at a Raptors game, they’re going to Forrest Gump him. Seats taken."
