Attorneys for Duane "Keefe D" Davis filed a motion on Friday (February 14) in a Nevada court to delay next month's trial for the murder of legendary rapper 2Pac.
Keefe D's team says more time is needed to ensure that he gets a fair trial, as they claim that a private investigator has found witnesses who can testify that Keefe D wasn't at the scene of the 1996 shooting, or in Las Vegas at the time. The witnesses are currently being interviewed, and the wording of the motion seems to suggest that they believe someone else orchestrated the shooting.
Carl Arnold, who is leading Keefe D's defense, stated, "This case involves decades-old allegations, and with every new piece of evidence, it becomes increasingly clear that critical facts have yet to be fully examined."
Arnold has argued that Keefe D shouldn't have been charged in the murder due to his immunity agreements, which prosecutors said were limited. Prosecutors add that they have strong evidence to pinpoint Keefe D to the murder, including claims made in his book, Compton Street Legend.
In the memoir, Keefe D claimed that he provided the gun in the shooting, and he also claimed to have been riding in the Cadillac that pulled up beside the BMW that Suge Knight was driving 2Pac in at the time they were shot. However, in his court filings, Keefe D stated that the claims made were "done for entertainment purposes and to make money."
