Hackers infiltrated a television at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on Monday morning, broadcasting an AI-generated video of Donald Trump kissing and caressing Elon Musk’s feet.
The video, which played on a cafeteria TV at HUD’s headquarters, included the text: "LONG LIVE THE REAL KING."
The Twitter account for Democrats on the House Committee on Financial Services later retweeted the footage, adding, "Not all heroes wear capes."
Journalist Maria Kabas reported that the 19-second clip looped continuously for five minutes. "Building staff couldn’t figure out how to turn it off," she noted, "so they sent people to every floor to unplug TVs."
The breach comes as Musk faces increasing scrutiny following his appointment by Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a cost-cutting task force auditing HUD and other federal agencies. A recent public poll suggests that many Americans believe Musk has been granted too much influence within the White House.
