Karl Jordan Jr., one of the two men convicted of killing hip-hop legend Jam Master Jay, was stabbed during a fight in prison.

Jordan, who is also Jam Master Jay’s godson, sustained serious injuries in the attack but is in stable condition, sources say. The altercation reportedly stemmed from tensions between rival gangs.

In February, Jordan and co-defendant Ronald Washington were found guilty on all counts in connection with Jam Master Jay’s 2002 murder. Prosecutors argued that Jordan was the gunman who fired two shots at close range, one of which struck Jay in the head, killing him. Since his conviction, Jordan has been held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) while awaiting sentencing.

Following her son’s conviction, Jordan’s mother, Jacqueline Gonzalez, publicly questioned the trial’s outcome. "I feel like I know that the feds, the government, paid those witnesses to lie on my son," she said. "My son had nothing to do with this crime, nothing at all."
