Michelle Trachtenberg, the beloved actress known for her roles in "Gossip Girl," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and "Harriet the Spy," has passed away at the age of 39.
The New York Post first reported the news, revealing that Trachtenberg was found by her mother around 8 a.m. on Wednesday (February 26) at One Columbus Place, a luxury high-rise in Manhattan’s Central Park South neighborhood.
According to sources, the actress died of natural causes and had recently undergone a liver transplant. It remains unclear whether complications from the procedure contributed to her passing.
The NYPD confirmed her death, stating that officers found Trachtenberg “unconscious and unresponsive” before EMS workers pronounced her dead at the scene.
Trachtenberg rose to fame as a child star, first appearing in Nickelodeon’s "The Adventures of Pete & Pete" before landing the lead role in the 1996 film "Harriet the Spy." She later gained widespread recognition as Dawn Summers in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and as the scheming Georgina Sparks on "Gossip Girl."
Her passing marks a tragic loss in the entertainment industry, leaving behind a legacy of iconic roles that shaped a generation.
