Despite early setbacks, including dropping out of high school, his raw talent became evident, as he dabbled in music production, inspired by college influences. His breakthrough came serendipitously at a Rochester fashion show, where his impromptu performance caught the attention of members from Jodeci. Impressed by his self-produced tracks, Stevie J was invited to collaborate on their acclaimed album, "The Show, The After Party, The Hotel." Additionally, Stevie shared colorful anecdotes, including how he brought groupies to Jodeci's room, highlighting both his professional ascent and memorable escapades.
