The highly anticipated showdown between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach on Saturday night (March 1) ended in a majority draw, leaving boxing fans divided. One judge scored the fight 115-113 in favor of Davis, while the other two ruled it 114-114, resulting in a stalemate.

On Monday, Davis took to X to express his frustration over the decision, claiming the fight was "taken" from him due to a controversial moment in the ring.

"They took the fight from me and made it a draw [because] I did that bull** knee.. but I landed the most punches in the fight.. he didn’t even hit me [with] a punch when I took the knee. I get it though, I shouldn’t have done that but that hair grease was burning my eyes!"*

Davis' decision to take a knee drew reactions from the boxing community, including welterweight champion Terence Crawford. Weighing in on X, Crawford remarked that he had "never seen" a fighter take a knee without it being counted as a knockdown. He added, "Must of [sic] forgot the rules for tonight."

Roach also responded to the controversy, retweeting Crawford’s comment and reacting to X’s community note, which flagged Davis’ post as "misleading." Roach found the correction amusing, calling it "cold."

Despite the drama, Davis wasted no time in calling for a rematch, suggesting it could happen as early as May. Roach, seemingly unfazed, acknowledged the challenge, setting the stage for a potential showdown in the near future.
