Casey Anthony, the Florida woman famously acquitted of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, has now joined TikTok—sparking immediate attention and debate.
Over the weekend, Anthony posted her first video on the platform, revealing that she is launching a Substack as part of her work as a legal advocate.
"I am a legal advocate, I am a researcher. I’ve been in the legal field since 2011, and in this capacity, I feel that it’s necessary—if I’m going to continue to operate appropriately as a legal advocate—that I start to advocate for myself and also advocate for my daughter," she stated.
Anthony went on to position herself as a supporter of multiple social causes, adding:
"As a proponent for the LGBTQ community, the legal community, and women’s rights, I feel that it’s important to use this platform that was thrust upon me. I now see it as a blessing, as opposed to the curse it has been since 2008."
Anthony, who was convicted of lying to law enforcement during the investigation into her daughter’s disappearance, also touched on broader issues of public perception and the justice system.
"We are plagued by a rush to judgment before someone even steps foot into a courtroom. Once a verdict is read—however long the process takes—the public must trust that the system worked the way it was intended."
Her presence on TikTok has already sparked mixed reactions, with some questioning her motives while others are curious about her advocacy work. As she steps into the public eye once again, it remains to be seen how her new platform will be received.
