Former NFL star Le’Veon Bell has responded after his cousin, Jada Bell, was awarded a $25 million default judgment in a lawsuit accusing him of years of sexual abuse.
Jada filed the lawsuit in Franklin County, Ohio, in March 2023, alleging that Bell, who is eight years older than her, began abusing her when she was around 6 or 7 years old. According to the suit, he used coded "slang terms" to instruct her on specific incestuous acts, including referring to oral sex as “fire.”
Jada claims the abuse continued through Bell’s college years and only stopped when she turned 18.
Two weeks ago, a judge awarded Jada the $25 million judgment after Bell failed to appear in court. The ruling stated that Bell had been "served according to law and failed to move, plead, or otherwise appear in this action."
Bell’s attorney, Thomas W. Shaffer, disputes the judgment, telling TMZ, “The default judgment granted was based upon violations of his Fifth Amendment rights of due process for failing to be served. My client is in the process of filing a motion to open and reverse the default judgment because the narratives of the case have never been litigated.”
Bell appeared to address the situation indirectly on social media, posting on X (formerly Twitter):
“Being a black man and a Trump supporter at the same time, so many ppl wanna attack me … lol like why tho??? I just don’t get it … it don’t matter tho, we STILL GOIN UP.”
