Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has filed a lawsuit against his ex-fiancée, Tia Jones, accusing her of attempting to “extort a home, money, cars, and other valuables” from him.
According to TMZ, Worthy filed the lawsuit in Texas on Monday (March 24), just weeks after his March 7 arrest following a domestic dispute at their Williamson County home. Tia alleged that Worthy choked her during the altercation, leading to his arrest.
However, in his lawsuit, Worthy paints a different picture, claiming that Tia was the aggressor. He alleges that the dispute erupted after he caught her cheating and subsequently asked her to leave their home. In an effort to support her transition, he says he even offered to pay for an apartment until she could get back on her feet.
Worthy further claims that Tia reacted violently to being asked to leave, allegedly breaking items in their home—including his desk and PlayStation 5—and physically attacking him by ripping out chunks of his hair. He adds that while he was in police custody, she "stole or destroyed over $150,000 worth of [his] personal property and cash from the residence"
The NFL star is now seeking $250,000 in damages, arguing that Tia’s actions have not only caused property damage but also harmed his "credibility, veracity, and reputation."
As the legal battle unfolds, both parties have yet to publicly comment on the lawsuit beyond their legal filings.
