Prosecutors filed a motion in Fulton County Superior Court on Wednesday (April 2), claiming Young Thug, whose legal name is Jeffrey Williams, has "demonstrated a blatant disregard for the law, the safety of witnesses and the integrity of judicial proceedings."
The claims in the motion pertain to social media posts, particularly one post about Atlanta gang investigator Marissa Viverito, calling her "the biggest liar in the D.A. office." Prosecutors say that Young Thug shared a photo of Viverito, who is testifying in a gang murder preliminary hearing, after the "court explicitly ordered that the witness not be shown on television while testifying."
Prosecutors allege that after Young Thug's post, Viverito's address was posted online and her family members received threats.
"This is not an isolated incident—it is part of a calculated campaign of intimidation, harassment, and misinformation designed to undermine the legal process," the motion states. "Social media has been used as a tool to manipulate public perception, spread misinformation, and instill fear."
Young Thug addressed the motion being filed, as he wrote on X, "I don’t make [threats] to people I’m a good person, I would never condone anyone threatening anyone or definitely participate in threatening anyone. I’m all about peace and love."
Brian Steel, the attorney who represented Young Thug in his RICO trial, called the motion "baseless." He added, "While intimidation and threats of violence are never appropriate, Jeffery Williams has done nothing wrong. We look forward to seeking a dismissal of this petition."
