A Fulton County judge has denied prosecutors' request to revoke Young Thug’s probation following a controversial social media post made earlier this week.
In a court filing on Wednesday, District Attorney Fani Willis alleged that the rapper "engaged in conduct that directly threatens the safety of witnesses and prosecutors, compromises ongoing legal proceedings, and warrants immediate revocation of probation."
However, Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker rejected the motion after reviewing both the filing and a response from Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel.
“While the Court does not find that the cited social media post rises to the level of a violation of Defendant’s probation, it may be prudent for Defendant to exercise restraint regarding certain topics,” Judge Whitaker wrote.
The post in question was shared earlier this week on Young Thug’s social media account. It featured a photo of an investigator from the district attorney’s office, accompanied by a caption calling the individual “the biggest liar in the DA’s office.”
In response to the controversy, Young Thug took to Twitter to deny any threatening intent.
“I don’t make threats to people. I’m a good person,” he wrote. “I would never condone anyone threatening anyone or definitely participate in threatening anyone. I’m all about peace and love.”
