Cassie is reportedly set to testify against Sean “Diddy” Combs in his upcoming trial — and she’s doing so publicly.
According to People, a motion filed on Friday (April 4) revealed that "Victim 1" in the federal case will not be testifying anonymously. That individual is confirmed to be Cassie, whose identity became widely associated with the case following the release of a viral video allegedly showing Diddy assaulting her in a hotel hallway.
The filing states: “She is prepared to testify under her own name.”
In contrast, other individuals involved — referred to as Victim-2, Victim-3, and Victim-4 — have requested to remain anonymous, citing concerns over privacy and safety.
Prosecutors explained the request, stating, “This case has already received an exceptional amount of media coverage, which will presumably only increase as trial proceeds. Permitting these measures will prevent unnecessary public disclosure of the victims’ identities, and the harassment from the media and others, undue embarrassment, and other adverse consequences that would almost certainly follow if these women were forced to reveal their true names publicly at trial.”
The latest federal indictment, made public by prosecutors in New York on April 4, adds new charges to the growing list Diddy is facing. He now stands accused of four counts of sex trafficking, as well as racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.
