Kanye West opened up about his relationship with Frank Ocean during a recent livestream with producer Digital Nas. In a candid and unfiltered moment, West revealed that Ocean once attempted to talk him out of supporting Donald Trump during the 2016 election.

“Frank Ocean came over to my house talking about Trump all day and how I shouldn’t support him,” West said. “Man, what do you know about politics? I’ve been in this game a long time. You used to come on tour with me. Don’t try to school me like you’re the authority now just because you read a few books.”

West didn’t hold back in asserting his dominance in the music industry either.

“None of these guys are as talented as me,” he continued. “I’m the greatest artist to ever exist. They might be slightly better at one thing because that’s all they do, but I do it all.”

This comes on the heels of West’s earlier claims that his 2021 collaboration with Ocean on the Donda track “Moon” effectively ended Ocean’s career. During a separate conversation with DJ Akademiks last month, West doubled down on his belief in his unparalleled musical prowess.

“When I made ‘Moon,’ that was it,” West said. “Frank hasn’t dropped a song since. I heard the track and thought, ‘He’s never going to be able to top this.’ Any genre—rap, R&B, gospel—you name it, I make a better version of it. I’m ten times stronger at music than anyone alive.”

While Frank Ocean has not responded publicly to West’s remarks, fans continue to speculate about the state of their relationship—and whether Ocean’s long-anticipated next release will address any of the drama.
