Wendy Williams appeared in court on Thursday (April 10) as part of her ongoing legal battle to end her guardianship and prove she is mentally fit to manage her own affairs.
But during the hearing, Judge Lisa Sokoloff made headlines herself — drawing criticism from fans after making pointed remarks about both Williams and her family.
Sokoloff accused Williams’ niece, Alex Finnie, of leaking information to the media and warned of potential sanctions if it happens again. She went so far as to call Williams’ family "no good," a comment that quickly sparked backlash online from supporters who saw the remark as disrespectful and unprofessional.
The judge didn’t stop there. Turning to Wendy directly, she criticized the former talk show host’s career, saying she had “a great run” but bluntly declared, “It’s done.”
The hearing comes in the wake of Lifetime’s two-part documentary Where Is Wendy Williams?, which drew a strong response from viewers. The special brought in a combined total of 6.2 million viewers across both linear and digital platforms, averaging 1.2 million viewers over its two nights, according to Nielsen Live+3 data.
Williams and her legal team are continuing to fight for the end of her court-appointed guardianship, as concerns about her health, autonomy, and legacy remain at the forefront of public conversation.
