Boosie is once again coming to R. Kelly’s defense after a viral "R&B Mount Rushmore" graphic made the rounds online, showcasing Michael Jackson, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, and Usher as the genre’s top four artists.
The rendering sparked conversation across social media, but Boosie took particular issue with one glaring omission: R. Kelly.
Taking to social media, Boosie wrote, “THE DISRESPECT TO R. KELLY,” making it clear he believes the controversial singer deserves a place among R&B’s elite, despite his criminal convictions.
Boosie has long been a vocal supporter of R. Kelly. Earlier this year, following the Super Bowl halftime show, he went viral for suggesting that R. Kelly would’ve delivered one of the greatest halftime performances of all time if not for his legal troubles.
“IF R. KELLY WOULDN’T HAVE GOT N TROUBLE, HIS SONGS WOULD BE AMAZING AT A SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW!!” Boosie wrote in all caps, before listing a string of the singer’s biggest hits:
“I BELIEVE I CAN FLY,” “STEP IN THE NAME OF LOVE,” “I WISH,” “THE WORLD’S GREATEST,” “FIESTA,” “WHEN A WOMAN LOVES,” and “SAME GIRL,” imagining a surprise appearance by Usher for the duet.
Boosie closed his post with “#letskeepitreal,” urging fans to separate R. Kelly’s musical legacy from his personal life — a stance that continues to divide opinion across the music world.
