Bobby Brown recently sat down with Shannon Sharpe for an in-depth conversation about his life and career, where he opened up about his longtime friendship with the late Murder Inc. co-founder, Irv Gotti.
Describing Gotti as “a special cat,” Brown praised his passion for uplifting others in the industry. “He loved to see people successful,” Brown said. “He loved that. He loved making sure you got your just due.”
That admiration led Brown to recall his iconic cameo in Ja Rule’s 2002 “Thug Lovin’” music video—a moment that remains unforgettable in hip-hop history.
“For the ‘Thug Lovin’’ video, I got paid like a million dollars to shoot it,” Brown revealed. “Coming off that helicopter was the scariest s*** of my life, because I’m so afraid of heights. The wind was blowing, and there was all kinds of things going on.”
Despite his fear, Brown was determined to make it count. “I just wanted to get it done in one take and get out of there,” he said with a laugh.
That single take went on to become one of the most memorable moments in early 2000s music videos—still referenced and parodied years later.
