Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been fined $50,000 by the NBA after an on-court outburst during Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to the league, the fine stems from Edwards "directing inappropriate language and making an obscene gesture toward a fan" during the Timberwolves’ 117–95 win on Saturday night.
Video footage circulating online appears to show a courtside heckler repeatedly taunting Edwards with the question, “Where your kids at?” — a pointed dig referencing Edwards’ ongoing, highly publicized custody battle. In response, Edwards launched into a profanity-laced rant, shouting about his wealth before yelling, “My d** is bigger than yours!”* He punctuated the remark by grabbing his crotch in the fan’s direction.
The incident marks yet another addition to Edwards' growing list of fines this season. Earlier this year, he was fined:
-$35,000 for throwing the ball into the stands and failing to promptly leave the court after a game.
-$50,000 for obscene gestures made during a separate matchup.
-$100,000 for using explicit language during a live broadcast.
While Edwards has been a breakout star on the court, helping lead the Timberwolves deep into the playoffs, his behavior off the hardwood continues to draw scrutiny from the league — and cost him significantly in fines.
