Cam’ron is the latest celebrity to weigh in on the explosive $50 million civil lawsuit filed against Shannon Sharpe, in which the former NFL star and ESPN personality is accused of sexual assault by a 20-year-old ex-girlfriend. The Dipset rapper didn’t hold back during a candid conversation on his It Is What It Is podcast with co-host Treasure “Stat” Wilson.
Before diving into his opinion, Cam’ron opened the segment with a pointed question:
“Let me ask you a question before I give my opinion... Do you think this has something to do with her being white?”
Wilson responded affirmatively, to which Cam’ron launched into a no-holds-barred take on the situation.
"That’s what happens when you mess with dumb white b****es—that’s what you get," he said bluntly, referring to what he believes is a cautionary tale about dating dynamics, fame, and the risks that come with it. “Like you said, it’s a lot of s*** to unpack with this. First thing, you said $100 million—now they want $50 out of nowhere. But you know, when you sue for $50 [million], you don’t really want $50. You go for the high number so you can settle out for what you really want.”
Cam’ron also took aim at the age difference between Sharpe and the accuser, joking, “She’s 20. How old is Unc, 92? Unc, you gotta know what’s going on.”
When discussing the controversial release of audio recordings and text messages—evidence that Sharpe’s legal team claims supports a consensual relationship—Cam’ron suggested the dynamic between the two seemed toxic, but mutual. “From the stuff that came out, it sounds like they had a wild relationship, but it was two-sided,” he said.
Despite the serious nature of the allegations, Cam’ron expressed support for Sharpe and cast doubt on the motivations behind the lawsuit.
“I hope Disney keeps him,” he said, referencing ESPN’s parent company. “I’m rooting for him because I do believe this is a shakedown. Because when you start getting the video evidence and audio evidence... that’s crazy.”
While public opinion on the case remains divided, Cam’ron’s commentary reflects a growing chorus of skepticism around the lawsuit’s timing and the way it’s being handled in the media. With Shannon Sharpe’s future at ESPN now under intense scrutiny, the court of public opinion is clearly still deliberating.
