The Game is taking matters into his own hands after blasting Complex for what he called a flawed ranking of Los Angeles rappers. In response to their recent “Top 50 L.A. Rappers” list, the Compton-born rapper unveiled his own Top 100 Greatest L.A. Rappers list and didn’t hold back in his critique.

He began his lengthy Instagram post with a jab at the original ranking, writing, “A few days ago @complexmusic dropped a list of the Top 50 LA rappers & I don’t know who gave final approval but I get it… ‘playas f%?k up too’!!!”

The Game then turned his attention to his deep roots in the city.

“I was born & raised in this city & I’ve never moved from it, left it for more than 2 months, or abandoned it to call anywhere else home,” he wrote. “I’ve lost brothers, family, friends & damn near my own life to the lifestyle that so many people around the world try to imitate."

“I say that to say: I AM L.A. I’ve mastered the art of surviving in this city that has claimed so many, and believe me when I say… I’ve been in the trenches since my birth.”

When explaining the logic behind his list, The Game emphasized authenticity, impact, and loyalty to the city.

“Everybody on this list know what it is with me out here & those not on the list understand that the names above from top to bottom best represent this city & its culture. The few rappers on the list that weren’t specifically born here are on it because of their dedication & choice to ride with the city once they got here. It’s non-debatable!!!”

He ended his post in true Game fashion, boldly standing by his rankings:

“Argue all you want to but this is how I feel… if I’m wrong, challenge my pen & let me remind you of what & who I am. At the end of the day, this MY LIST PUNK!!!! I was born here & I will die here…
Sincerely, THE COAST GUARD ‼️🩸👌🏾”

Naturally, fans were quick to zero in on some of the more controversial placements. Most notably, The Game ranked himself at No. 5—above West Coast legend Dr. Dre, who landed at No. 8. His top four were rounded out by 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and Kendrick Lamar, in that order.
