Part 1: David Packouz on Becoming an Arms Dealer After Friend Efraim Diveroli Made $1.8M in 1 Year
--------
In an eye-opening interview, David Packouz shed light on the behind-the-scenes turbulence that followed when his partner, Efraim Diveroli, refused to pay a vendor, leading to their exposure to the FBI. The conflict arose when Diveroli discovered Heinrich Thomet was earning a substantial profit margin by selling ammunition - originally costing the Albanian Ministry of Defense less - to them at a marked-up price. Diveroli attempted to bypass Thomet, unsuccessfully negotiating a deal directly with the Albanians to cut Thomet out. Diveroli's unsuccessful attempt to cut Thomet out resulted in Kosta Trebicka getting cut out, who was originally responsible for repackaging the ammuniation. The contractor, feeling jilted after being fired, retaliated by exposing their operations to the New York Times and the FBI.
As tensions escalated, Diveroli cut ties with Packouz, offering only a fraction of the company’s shares. Diveroli’s refusal to pay owed money and unilateral decisions strained their partnership, culminating in legal action. Ultimately, the lack of formal agreements compounded with Diveroli’s alleged removal of their signed contract left Packouz out of the deal, prompting a bitter legal battle and federal scrutiny.
